3 Things I Tell Others Not To Do As A HR
Professional With 20+ Years Experience 🙂‍↔️

Don’t overlook data and metrics: HR isn’t just about people- It’s about measurable outcomes. Use data to make informed decisions that impact the business. This is a major key in adding value. 📊

Don’t rely solely on policy to manage people: Policies are essential, but they’re not a substitute for building strong relationships with your workforce. People want to understand, not managed like checklist. I always say “if you have to leave it with policy you’ve already failed and what you attempted to achieve” 📑

Don’t wait to act on bad behavior: If you see problematic behavior in the workplace, address it swiftly. Letting issues fester can hurt your culture and undermine trust in HR. I always say “build strong relationships with trust and respect- then when you have to correct or discipline people understand it’s not you but them that landed themselves in a situation “ 😔

Ignore Employee Concerns: Whether it’s a small issue or a larger problem, everyone deserves to feel heard and valued. Small issues left unaddressed often turn into bigger problems down the line. I always tell people “it’s cool until it ain’t cool no mo” 😊

Compromise on Ethics for Results: The pressure to deliver can be high, but cutting corners or engaging in unethical practices to achieve business goals is a recipe for disaster. Integrity first, always. 💼

Neglect Your Own Professional Development:
HR is constantly evolving. Staying stagnant in your knowledge and skills will make it harder to add value to your organization. Always keep learning! 📚
